Nourishy provides a shipping kit for families sending milk from around Australia. If you live near one of our drop-off locations, you may also be able to bring your frozen milk in person. Here’s how to plan either option and what happens after your milk reaches our Brisbane facility.
Shipping or drop-off: which works for me?
If you’re sending frozen breast milk to Nourishy, your shipping kit includes an insulated cooler and a prepaid shipping label. Follow the instructions supplied with your kit and our current shipping instructions when it’s time to send your milk.

Before your shipping kit arrives
Keep the milk frozen while you prepare your stash. Use breast milk storage bags suitable for freezing, label them with the date expressed and make sure each bag is properly sealed. The Australian Breastfeeding Association’s expressed-milk storage guidance offers further advice on suitable storage containers and handling expressed milk.
Take stock of roughly how many bags you have and their volumes. This will help you choose the right Nourishy service and check that your stash fits within your kit’s packing instructions. How do I pack frozen breast milk for shipping?
Make sure each milk bag is sealed, labelled and frozen solid before packing. Place the bags in the insulated cooler supplied with your Nourishy kit, then return the cooler in its original outer carton. Don’t add dry ice or extra ice packs. Follow our step-by-step shipping instructions when you’re ready to send it.
When should I send it?
Our current instructions require dispatch on Monday or Tuesday to reduce the chance of a shipment sitting in transit over a weekend. Use the courier and label supplied with your kit. If you choose to hand the parcel in, check the instructions for the appropriate staffed courier depot; a retail parcel counter is not necessarily the same thing.
If your planned shipping day falls near a public holiday or you’re unsure about a collection, contact Nourishy before sending the parcel. Transit times can vary, so check the current shipping instructions again on dispatch day.
What happens when my milk arrives?
At our Brisbane facility, we inspect the shipment and individually weigh, log and track your milk bags. Your milk stays identified with your order as it moves through our freeze-drying process. Once processed, it is sealed into the packaging option you selected.
If your parcel is delayed, damaged or appears to have warmed or thawed, contact Nourishy promptly with your order details. We’ll advise on the next step for your shipment. Avoid making assumptions about whether the milk can be processed or used based only on how the outside of the box looks.
Quick questions before you send
Do I need to buy my own insulated box?
Use the shipping kit and instructions provided for your Nourishy order. Don’t swap out packing materials or add dry ice unless Nourishy specifically instructs you to do so.
Can I send my milk on a Friday?
Our current dispatch instructions specify Monday or Tuesday. If that doesn’t work for you, ask Nourishy about your options before booking a shipment.
Can I drop my milk off instead?
Yes, at a participating drop-off location. Check the location’s current instructions before you go.
Will I get my own milk back?
Your bags are logged and tracked when they arrive. Nourishy’s SafeDry® process keeps each customer’s milk separate throughout processing. You choose whether the resulting powder is returned in single-feed, multi-feed or combination packaging.
